Participant Submission Details
Submissions should center on presenting one specific artifact through a single-column 1 to 6 pages position paper (excluding references) that follows the ACM Conference Proceedings Primary Article Template — click here for Word and here for LaTeX.
This could be a speculative artifact, such as a sketch or diagram of an imagined AR experience. It could be a process artifact, such as a labeled site map or early prototype. Or it might be a final artifact, such as a soundscape or a video clip of a completed experience. Authors may select and discuss an artifact created by someone else, it does not have to be their own work. For example, a short position paper could discuss an AR experience related to social justice using one image and one-page of text — of course, longer submissions are also welcome.
The position paper should discuss the artifact as it relates to the themes of the workshop and prior work. The artifacts will not only guide our discussions at the workshop but also form the first entries in an anticipated interactive database of social justice AR resources that will be created as an outcome of the workshop.
Submissions will be reviewed by the workshop organizers based on quality, relevance, and diversity. Accepted papers will be published as workshop proceedings on arXiv. At least one author of each accepted submission must attend the workshop. Authors can decide to register for the conference or workshop only.
Scholarships for participants
The ACM SIGCHI Development Fund has generously granted us several scholarships to broaden participation in this workshop. Top priority will be given to participants from (1) community organizations; and (2) with a financial need (as declared in the submission form). The scholarship will cover the fee for workshop registration ($238). Since conference attendance is not required for workshop attendance this year, workshop participation will be 100% free for participants who receive this scholarship. All workshop participants will be automatically considered for the scholarship, there is no separate application process.
